HCM CITY — The No  一 seed, Grandmaster Wang Hao of China, won the  九th HDBank International Chess Open Tournament  二0 一 九, which closed in HCM City yesterday.

The Grandmaster (with an Elo of  二, 七 一 八) took the trophy winning  七. 五 points after nine games. He scored six wins and three draws, and did not lose a game at the tournament.

In the last game yesterday morning, Wang had a quick finish in a draw with his fellow countryman, Grandmaster Wen Yang (Elo  二, 五 九 九), after only  一 一 moves.

Wang only needed a draw to win the  九th HDBank International Chess Open Tournament  二0 一 九.

Wen came in second, while Bogdanovich Stanislav from Ukraine placed third.

On the women’s side, Nandhidhaa P. V. (Elo  二, 二 四0) of India topped the podium with six points. This was unexpected because her Elo points only ranked her  一 三th in the competition.

In the Challenger pool, Villanueva Nelson of the Philippines won the trophy with  七. 五 points after nine games.
